Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been rush to hospital to undergo emergency surgery after suffering an abdominal injury he suffered during the 2-2 draw with Leicester.
Awoniyi, 27, crashed into the goalpost in the final minutes of Sunday’s game at the City Ground and struggled to return to action after undergoing treatment for several minutes.
The club’s medical team were only made aware of the injury on Monday and the Nigeria international was rush to hospital for emergency surgery.

Marinakis was concerned about the striker’s condition after he temporarily left the pitch, although Nuno consulted his medical team in stoppage time.
Awoniyi was force off for around three minutes but was unable to make the switch after Forest had used up their substitutes quota when Jota Silva came on for Elliot Anderson.
For Awoniyi, he has played 32 matches in all competitions this season, scoring two goals.
Nuno’s seventh-placed are no longer in charge of their own destiny in their bid to appear in the Champions League for the first time since 1980-81.
They sit one point outside the Premier League’s top five places — which guarantee qualification for the Champions League — with two games left against West Ham and top five rivals Chelsea.
Forest are assure of at least a place in the UEFA Conference League, which will see them play European football for the first time since 1995-96.
