Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been rush to hospital to undergo emergency surgery after suffering an abdominal injury he suffered during the 2-2 draw with Leicester.

Awoniyi, 27, crashed into the goalpost in the final minutes of Sunday’s game at the City Ground and struggled to return to action after undergoing treatment for several minutes.

The club’s medical team were only made aware of the injury on Monday and the Nigeria international was rush to hospital for emergency surgery.
